How to get to Villasimius
It is located about fifty kilometers from Cagliari, and is well connected with the entire island.
Arriving from Cagliari, you can take the scenic panoramic road SP17, or the faster road with fewer curves SS125.
For those arriving by plane, it is possible to use public transportation:
- Train that connects the airport to the center of Cagliari and from there, continue with the ARST line bus.
- Private shuttle directly from the airport to Villasimius and vice versa.
- Taxi
By ship
The nearest port is Cagliari. Ferries arrive here from Civitavecchia, Naples, Trapani, and Palermo. Moby Ferries Tirrenia Ferries
The nearest airport is Cagliari-Elmas. There are several national and international connections and various airlines.
By car
Villasimius is about 50 km from Cagliari. From Cagliari, you can take the scenic road which offers unique views but is less convenient. An alternative to the scenic route is the Strada Statale 125 Var Orientale Sarda, which is faster and passes through the mountains with a series of tunnels: you follow it until one of the exits for Muravera, Castiadas/Villasimius
For those coming from Olbia, Sassari, Alghero, Nuoro or generally from northern Sardinia, you always take the Strada Statale 125Var Orientale Sarda, passing through Lanusei.
Those arriving by plane or by ship can easily rent a car directly at the airport or near the port.
From the airport, you can reach Cagliari by train, which arrives at Piazza Matteotti, in the center of Cagliari. (click here for more details)
From the 'Elmas Aeroporto' station you can reach the main station in about 6 minutes with a ticket costing 1.30 euros (one way) available from the automatic ticket machines of Ferrovie dello Stato (in the Arrivals hall of the airport terminal and at the station), all ticket offices and authorized sales points, as well as on the website of Trenitalia or by calling the call center 89 20 21.

Villasimius-Express is the shuttle to and from Cagliari-Elmas airport. The journey takes about an hour.
